The financial barrier to being a full time artist.

I graduated from university with a BA degree in Art.  I got married and had a family and really needed a job. So I went back to University for several years more and got a teaching degree and started teaching Art. Before I got married, I was doing really well in Art School and think if I had been able stuck with it another year or two, I could have made it as a full time artist. But without the complete artistic training I was not skilled enough to be a full time artist. I need to improve my skills if I wanted to make money as an artist. 🙁

As you may know, it is hard to be a full time artist when you are working at a full time job. I think this is a common problem for a lot of aspiring artists.   If someone had shown me how to make 5K in just 2 hours a day instead of teaching all day, I would have been able to spend my time developing my art skills to a professional level, but I had to just kept on teaching.

Many years later I found a way around this problem.

The essence of the problem is if you are an aspiring artist, your art is probably not good enough to sell….yet. It can take a short time or a long time to develop your skills to the point people will want to pay you money for your art. It can be frustrating trying to sell your art if you have not fully developed your skills to a professional level.
