If you want to fly a plane, or become an architect or be a doctor you need to study. Painting is just as complex and you really need a good instructor. There is so much to learn in order to be able to control your brushes and paint that trying to learn without a teacher is very frustrating. A good teacher can save you many years of trying to learn something by yourself. I am not saying you can not learn something on your own, but it is defiantly a much harder and longer process.
You can find a ton of videos on YouTube and Instagram offering lessons. Some are good and some not so much. Keep an eye out for anyone who is painting and teaching in the style that you would like to do. I have listed a few below that I like.
How to study
Two tips on how to learn are: 1. know the exact definition of any art words that you come across and 2. don’t just study and study, you should practice whatever you learn before going onto the next study step.
